Discussing Anything That Comes to Our Minds. We Know What’s Up!

Holy Canseco

Posted by Scott on March 27, 2008

I’m done…I don’t care. I don’t want to see it anymore. Why does Jose Canseco get any air time anywhere? This morning I turned on ESPN and there was an interview being shown with Canseco. They asked him about Clemens and new players that he is claiming to have taken steroids in the past. He has already written a book tattling on players and now he is back. Why? Well, it is obvious to me he is starved for attention.

Let me be clear from the start. Steroids are a big deal. Still, I am not interested anymore in finding out who did it and who did not. The fact or fiction that Roger Clemens took anything in 1999 doesn’t matter to me anymore. Many people would not agree with me and would say that it does mean a lot. I can see that side of discussion as well so don’t go off on my horribly bias’ opinion. Now, the example that hit close to home for me was that Canseco has now implicated Tigers right fielder Magglio Ordonez. My first reaction was, “Who cares?” The event that was discussed took place back in 2001, which by my count is seven years ago! My point is that it is not news anymore. These players are being called out by this man, and nothing is coming of it. Nothing will ever come of it. I don’t care that he thinks A-Rod has taken steroids once ever in his life. If someone told me Michael Jordon took steroids back in 1984 I would laugh and say, “that’s too bad but it doesn’t take anything away from what he did in the mid-90s!”

What bothers me the most is that people are still listening to this guy. He comes out of the woodwork just as everyone begins to forget about him. He never backs up his accusations with facts except for his “experiences.” It is not fair for players to have to defend themselves because of hearsay. They should be able to focus on the game they are playing. If they get caught tomorrow, they should be punished severely. If they get accused of something they supposedly did seven years ago, they shouldn’t have to say anything. They should be able to play the game they love without the worry that some attention-hungry man will implicate them in scandal.
